Van Gogh Museum masters the art of delivery with nShift
As well as housing the world’s largest Vincent van Gogh collection, the Van Gogh Museum sells merchandise to customers all over the world via its webshop – everything from pencils to porcelain vases. Using nShift has helped them make the delivery process more user-friendly for customers and themselves.
The Challenge
Managing deliveries from the Van Gogh Museum’s popular webshop presents some major logistical challenges. Peter Vogler, Head of Logistics & Planning explains: “We sell a lot of merchandise via our webshop and we also have four other shops that are restocked several times per week. We work with multiple carriers.... We also deliver extremely fragile items, which require extra care when being shipped. This makes our shipments more complex.”
When Peter was tasked with implementing a new logistics strategy for the museum, he immediately started looking for a platform that would streamline the delivery process and make the service more accessible and user-friendly.

The Solution
By integrating nShift’s platform with their existing ERP system, the Van Gogh Museum have been able to streamline and simplify their delivery management processes. As Peter says, “Everything is now arranged via one system, which is far more user-friendly.”
The platform is also helping the museum reach new customers all over the world. “For each purchase, the correct carrier is automatically selected by the ERP system based on the shipment destination (cross-border shipments are not undertaken by every carrier). Moreover, [nShift] ensures the automatic generation of the required documents and special labels [required to export products cross-border]. Previously, this was all done by hand. Thanks to [nShift’s] system we save a great deal of time! These days we can even deliver worldwide within 48 hours. This is a huge change compared to how we used to work. In short: we are really happy about the partnership with nShift: a very valuable investment.”
“The system automatically emails our customers to keep them up to date. This means that both we and our customers are always up to date with the status of a shipment, 24 hours per day. It’s ideal!” - Peter Vogler, Head of Logistics & Planning for the Van Gogh Museum
